Active Citizenship of Young People

The project aims to develop the education of Active Citizenship for young people, promoting new participation-mediation concepts and leading to the empowerment of young people. It also wants to promote new technical and political instruments of institutional mediation.

The intention is to build up a new model of governance meant to strengthen the ability to propose and monitor the political responsibility of young people, guaranteeing them autonomy and valuing at the same time the role of formal political mediator of the institutional representatives.

The project proposes non-formal training addressed to youth organisations of civil

society and to various school actors (students, teachers and parents). This will be

delivered through informative seminars and active laboratories on the knowledge of

human rights and on their effective protection in the local community. The final results will be a permanent ''civic laboratory-observatory'' of young people that promotes the dialogue between the subjects and civil society taking advantage of the facilitating function of the local ombudsman.

ARWEN - Assessment and Recognition of Work Experiences and Non-formal learning

The ARWEN project aims to give young people tools to recognise and document skills acquired in worr experiences at every level and to give them appropriate value.

Young people often have the chance to develop and acquire skills during work experiences of all types (apprenticeships, internships, short-term contracts, summer work experiences or voluntary services). During these kind of jobs and work placements, young people encounter many typical work place activitieis e.g. developing and managing projects, making decisions, handling and administering budgets, sometimes having positions of responsibility.

In order to help citizens - particularly young people combine formal and non-formal learning, ARWEN will 'create a methodology' to help identify skills taking into account the knoweldge obtained by 'on the job' experience. ARWEN will test the recognition model developed with a group of young people (10-12 in each partner country - Bulgaria, France, Italy and Spain), providing at the end of the project a 'list of recommendations' based on anaylsis and trials carried out.
